Eitan Gafni

Born in 1981 but still a kid who enjoys movies, with everything they bring – screaming, crying and all other emotions in between.

Making movies since he was a child, Eitan has always known that he would begin his film career with Genre films, following the footsteps of his cinematic idols: Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, John Carpenter, Clint Eastwood, to name a few.

Graduate of the Tel Aviv Film University’s Film Department, Eitan wrote and directed Israel’s first zombie film, Cannon Fodder (AKA Battle of the Undead), distributed in 15 countries and toured the world in over 40 film festivals, and planting the seeds of the Hebrew Horror film Genre.

Children of the Fall is his second feature film, premiered at 2017’s Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and he likes the movie a lot.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Although the film is set in Israel, its message is a global one; Children of the Fall deals with critical problems that thrive in our day to day life – The diversity in our societies in general, and in Israel specifically; what makes accepting those who are different from you a task not easily done; how do people in power use our fears to control, often fomenting and inflaming instead of setting the example – and how red can blood get?

But what if the unknown is what will save us? What if our enemy is not who we think it is? What if there are forces among us, who take their fears to the unhealthy – not to say – criminal extreme?

And how can I tell this story, ask these questions, and create a mix of these burning issues with my love for 1970’s genre cinema?

Stick around, find out. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.
