Master of Spanish genre cinema and one of the greatest genre directors in the world. De La Iglesia, born 1965 in Bilbao, Spain, began his cinematic career as a production designer. he directed his debut feature film in 1993, produced by Pedro Almodóvar. Since then he has directed 17 films in his unique style – violent, dark and full of black humor and grotesque atmosphere.
De la Iglesia visits the festival alongside his longtime writing partner , Jorge Guerricaechevarría, with the assistance of the Spanish Embassy in Israel. The festival will present a retrospective with special screenings of his films “The Last Circus”, “Witching and Bitching” and “Common wealth”. He will also participate in the festival events and hold an artist workshop.
