The emotional prosthetic was invented in an attempt to create a new limb that expresses emotion through actual motion. In a world in which we are used to express our feelings trough emoji and letter combination, it seems that the connection between technology and emotion becomes closer and closer every day.
The prosthetic comes to life using pulse and blood pressure sensors. Whenever the sensor measurements are high – the spikes on the back move in a manner that reads as nervous or tens. When the sensor recordings are ordinary, the spikes move in a calm breathing manner. The person wearing the prosthetic will not have to actively do anything in order to convey his emotional state to his current surrounding. The prosthetic knows how to “feel” the stress level and act accordingly. The inspiration for the prosthetic comes from comic books and superheroes, mutants whose bodies convey their emotions in a different way from the one we are used to, yet is still understandable due to the use of behavioral codes that are familiar to us.
