A crazy, fantastic comedy from Spanish genius Alex de la Iglesia (“The Day of the Beast”, “Balada Triste de Trompeta”). A bank robbery unexpectedly goes awry and the perpetrators find themselves holding onto significant loot and with no escape route or hiding place from the authorities. Having no choice, they reach a forest famous for its myths about witches who’ve made it their home for the past few centuries. The robbers’ belief or rather, disbelief, becomes irrelevant, as the witches are ready for a war of the sexes the likes of which have not been seen on screen. With his uncompromising and energetic style, the director combines wild comedy and unnerving horror in a film that approaches the witchcraft movie genre from an unexpected, gender-focused point of view.
