Vyo // IDC

Vyo is a social robot, designed as an empathic robotic assistant, that serves as a centralized interface to manage smart home devices. Interacting with Vyo combines several interaction paradigms, including the use of tangible physical icons (“phicons”), expressive physical gestures and screen feedback.

Communication between user and robot occurs via the use of “phicons”: the user places an icon – representing a device (dishwasher, heating, cooling etc.) – on the robots turntable to control or monitor it. Following this interaction, the robot responds expressively according to user’s’ action, displays feedback via the screen and fulfils the task given.
