Fireside Chat with Peter Watts

Fireside Chat with Peter Watts
schedule:
Tuesday 4.12, 18:00 - 19:00 | The Old Jaffa Visitor’s Center

Peter Watts is a former marine biologist, flesh-eating-disease survivor and (according to the US government) Undesirable Element whose novels have become required texts for university courses ranging from Philosophy to Neuropsychology. His work is available in 20 languages, has appeared in two dozen best-of-year anthologies, and been nominated for over 50 awards in a dozen countries. His (somewhat smaller) list of 18 actual wins includes the Hugo, the Shirley Jackson, and the Seiun. His work focuses on the intersection between neurobiology, psychology, and technology. While it deals with many future scenarios and questions, a common thread can be said to be "how will humanity be changed by the future and what does being human even mean, in an existence increasingly described by science and technological advances like AI and space travel?".
