Javier dreams of being a funny clown, like his late father was, but the circus only hire him as the sad clown. On stage he suffers humiliations by the hands of Sergio, the funny clown and a violent drunk. Behind the scenes he dreams of Sergio's girlfriend and trapeze artist, Natalia. the romantic triangle turns into a surreal and bloody duel of clowns.
